Legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock returns to Hong Kong after a decade at the Free Jazz Music Festival. Herbie Hancock, the most influential jazz pianist of our time, is set to perform at the Free Jazz Music Festival after more than ten years since his last visit. This music pioneer has been breaking musical boundaries and pioneering new realms in jazz since the 1960s. He has won 14 Grammy Awards and an Oscar for Best Original Music Score for ‘Round Midnight’. He has released popular albums such as ‘Headhunters and Mwandishi’, ‘Rockit’, and ‘Future Shock’, revolutionizing jazz by blending rock, funk, and electronic music in innovative ways. His influence reaches far and wide. In recent years, he has continued to collaborate with a new generation of musicians from different genres, including rapper Kendrick Lamar, jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington, and Y2K jazz duo DOMi and JD BECK, constantly exploring new sounds. Despite being over eighty, he remains tireless in his world tours and maintains his stage presence. Joining Herbie Hancock on stage will be trumpet master Terence Blanchard, an eight-time Grammy Award winner, guitarist Lionel Loueke, bass guitarist James Genus, and jazz drummer Jaylen Petinaud.
