Dvořák masterpieces in pairs, oscillating between passion and brilliance. The Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra was founded and served as the first guest conductor by the legendary violinist Menuhin forty years ago. It has received high praise in local and overseas tours. The orchestra has won the Polish Chopin Record Award and the French Diapason d’Or Award. Past music directors include the renowned composer Penderecki. This year, it will be conducted by the winner of the International Classical Music Award and the German Opus Klassik Award, Lübke. It will perform at the closing of the music festival. ‘As a soloist or conductor, no other orchestra can bring me as much satisfaction as the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.’ Trey Lee, artistic director of the Musica Viva Society and cello soloist, will collaborate with Lübke again after many years. The concert will start with Dvořák’s Cello Concerto. The composer hid mourning and longing in the piece. He not only overcame the challenge of composing for the cello but later considered this work to be ‘far superior’ to his other concertos. In the second half, the orchestra will first play Lutosławski’s suite inspired by Polish village folk songs to outline the modern face of Polish music. In 2024, on the 120th anniversary of Dvořák’s death, the passionate and unpredictable Seventh Symphony will be specially performed. Dvořák incorporated strong elements of Czech national music into the musical form, rivaling the traditional German-Austrian style and adding a wonderful ending to the music festival.

Open date: Sunday, December 1. The performance time and duration are subject to the actual on-site situation.
