618 War Preparedness Radio Station Historic Site

The 618 War Preparedness Radio Station, originally the backup station for Shandong People’s Broadcasting Station, was personally selected and built by General Yang Dezhi, then commander of the Jinan Military Region, in the 1960s to meet national defense needs. It is located in the northern mountains of E Yu Village, Lu Village Town, Yishui County. With a transmission power of 50 kilowatts, it could cover 13 cities and counties including Zibo, Linyi, Weifang, and Tai’an. The radio station’s facilities were set within a mountain tunnel, with a total length of 470 meters.

As time passed, forty years later, the 618 Radio Station no longer bears the mission of war preparedness, but its historical value has become increasingly prominent. Since 2004, Zibo Broadcasting and Television Corporation has invested heavily to restore and renovate the facilities inside and outside the tunnel, recreating the historical ambiance of that era. In April 2006, it was officially opened to the public. The 618 Radio Station, sealed for forty years, has now unveiled its mysterious veil to the world! The deep mountain tunnels, old broadcasting equipment, strong military preparedness colors, and the mysterious life within the caves have caused a great sensation in society since their display! A steady stream of visitors come here to explore historical relics and reminisce about the glorious years.

Opening hours are all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
