In 2009, the Tongnan County Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People’s Government initiated the protection and renovation project of the Yang Ankang Martyrs’ Cemetery. Academician Qi Kang from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an expert in architecture, was invited to be in charge of the overall planning and design scheme. The cemetery was expanded from its original area of 12.5 mu to 50.5 mu. The park is divided into four main areas: the entrance rest area, the martyrs’ memorial area, the exhibition and office area, and the forest park area. The main attractions include the relief wall, the statue of Yang Ankang, Yang Ankang’s martyr’s tomb, and the horseshoe-shaped flower terrace.
