Wu Village, located next to the West Street Scenic Area of Wuzhen, is a historic ancient village that stands closely to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It still retains the remains of the canal’s sluice gates and two typical harbors of the Grand Canal – Wangjin Bay (located at the entrance from Wangjinli to Wu Village) and Wu Village Bay (located at Wu Village over the Wangfan Bridge).

Wu Village features hotels, homestays, dining, entertainment, and landscape, presenting a modern ideal retreat of rural China while fully preserving the traces of time in the natural village. The filming of Liu Ruoying’s ‘Like Flowing Years’ took place here.

You can experience the ‘Wu Village life’ here: cooking over an open fire, making scarecrows, flying kites on the ridges, weaving with rattan and grass, farmer’s paintings, origami, and more, fully experiencing the daily life of the people who work in Wu Village.

The homestays in Wu Village are also distinctive, mainly independent courtyards, all renovated on the basis of old houses, with a total of seven areas named Fisherman’s Home, Mill, Wine Alley, Bamboo House, Rice Barn, Peach Garden, and the Era of educated youth.
