Keqiao Scenic Area is located at the foot of Ke Mountain, encompassing three parts: Keqiao, Jianhu, and Luzhen. Keqiao is the core of the entire scenic area. During the Three Kingdoms period, it was a quarry site, featuring various unique stone grottoes, caves, ponds, and cliffs. It is not far from the city center, making it an ideal place to understand Shaoxing culture and for leisure vacations. The scenic area has two main entrances, one at Keqiao and the other at Luzhen, both of which are not far apart.
It is recommended to tour the scenic area following the Keqiao-Jianhu-Luzhen route in the morning, and after 2 PM, it is advisable to choose the Luzhen-Jianhu-Keqiao route. There are free shuttle boats operating between the three scenic spots within the area, and of course, one can also choose to walk, although the distance is relatively long.Today’s Keqiao Scenic Area includes four major attractions: the Stone Buddha, Mirror Water Bay, Yue Zhong Famous Scholars Garden, and Yuan Shan Garden. Among them, the more special attractions are the ‘Heavenly Craftsman Buddha’ and the ‘Qiyun Stone Bone’. The ‘Heavenly Craftsman Buddha’ was carved during the Sui Dynasty and took three generations of stone workers to complete, exuding a strong presence. The ‘Qiyun Stone Bone’, with a wider top and narrower bottom, resembles an inverted pagoda, standing over 30 meters high with a base circumference of only 4 meters. Despite its seemingly top-heavy appearance, it has stood firm against the wind and rain for over a thousand years, which is truly astonishing.
Jianhu, known as Shaoxing’s ‘Mother Lake’, features four scenic spots including the Eastern Han Flute Pavilion, Nanyang Autumn Drifting, Five Bridges Moon Viewing, and Gourd Drunk Island. Visitors can take a traditional Wupeng boat on Jianhu (additional fee required) and at Gourd Drunk Island, they can taste yellow wine, watch the flowing wine cups, and experience Shaoxing’s yellow wine culture. Luzhen, originally a fictional town in Lu Xun’s writings, is a rural town theme park built to recreate the ‘Luzhen’ depicted in Lu Xun’s works.
There are restaurants such as Keqiao Restaurant, Wine Tasting Hall, and Yishi Restaurant within the scenic area where meals can be had, although the prices are slightly higher, so it is recommended to bring your own food. After the visit, return to Shaoxing for accommodation. The entire area is open from October 8th to April 30th from 08:30 to 16:30; from May 1st to October 7th from 08:30 to 17:00.
Preferential policies: Children aged 6 (excluding) to 18 (inclusive) and students are eligible for half-price tickets; children under 1.2 meters (inclusive) or aged 6 (inclusive) and below enter for free. Elderly aged 60 (inclusive) to 70 (exclusive) with valid ID receive half-price tickets; those aged 70 (inclusive) and above enter for free. Active-duty military personnel with officer’s ID, serviceman’s ID, or armed police ID enter for free.
