Wenguang Tower is a seven-story pavilion-style stone tower in Chaoyang District, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province. It was first built in 1131 AD (the first year of Shaoxing in the Song Dynasty). After collapsing and being rebuilt three times in the Ming and Qing dynasties and being restored, it now maintains the appearance and exterior as restored in the Ming Dynasty. The tower is a seven-story pavilion-style stone tower with an octagonal plane. It is 42.3 meters high. The tower cavity is folded up inside the wall. On the top of the door is a stone plaque with the three characters “Wenguang Tower” written by Tang Wenzao, the magistrate of Chaoyang County in the Qing Dynasty, and a couplet. Wenguang Tower is a brick and stone structure building in the Ming style and has the fine characteristics of Ming Dynasty architecture.
