Tai’an Hall Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Tai’an Hall Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine is curated around the historical roots of the Chaozhou Ke family, spanning 13 generations in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, and the trajectory of Tai’an Hall’s development. It showcases a vast array of valuable artifacts from the历代传人 of Tai’an Hall, including the Ke family’s secret collection of medical instruments from the Ming and Qing dynasties, ancient medical texts, alchemy tools for making pills and powders, vintage photographs, old medicines, antique furniture, and plaques.


The museum fully displays the cultural heritage of traditional Chinese medicine inherited through 13 generations of Tai’an Hall over nearly five centuries, integrating the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, Chaoshan, and Tai’an Hall itself, presenting visitors with a magnificent picture within the long river of Chinese medicine.


The total area of Tai’an Hall Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine is approximately 15 acres, with a total construction area exceeding 20,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 3,200 square meters. The museum is divided into eight exhibition areas:


1. Master of Apricot Forest (Statue of Yujing Gong): A full statue of the founder of Tai’an Hall, Ke Yujing Gong, stands at 5.3 meters tall, carved from camphor wood that is over 1,000 years old.


2. Skillful Physician (Divine Physician Hall): Comprising the Tai’an Hall Heirs Hall, Treasure Hall, and Clan Hall, featuring 12 sandalwood statues of Tai’an Hall’s successors and a Tai’an Hall acupuncture copper man, which are quite eye-catching.


3. Sacred Elixirs (Hall of Holy Medicine)


4. Hall of the King of Medicine: Enshrining statues of the cultural ancestors Fuxi, Shennong, and the Yellow Emperor, with statues of medical sages and kings such as Sun Simiao and Wan Bangning on either side, each with a distinct expression, lifelike and vivid.


5. The Fragrant Orchid of Calligraphy (including a library, stele forest, couplets, and plaques): The library collects and displays over 3,000 precious medical books and newspapers preserved through 13 generations of the Ke family, some of which have become unique copies.

7. The Rise of Tai’an (Modern Tai’an Hall, Tai’an Famous Medicine Street): This area focuses on displaying the corporate culture and management philosophy of modern Tai’an Hall, as well as the honors it has received over the decades.


8. The full text of Kirin and Jade Swallow is open to the public. The museum is open all year round, from Tuesday to Sunday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
