Luo Jia Temple is located in the vast and enchanting coastal waters of the Southern Fujian Gold Coast in Shishi City. It is nestled against Bao Gai Mountain to the northwest and faces the Taiwan Strait to the southeast. Spanning over twenty acres, Luo Jia Temple is a rare architectural marvel of an island with a single temple, drawing countless visitors from far and wide. Amidst the ebb and flow of the tide, one can experience the grandeur of Buddhism and the vastness of the sea.

When the tide rises, Luo Jia Temple appears to float on the sea, earning it the nickname ‘Buddhist Kingdom on the Floating Island’. While there are numerous Buddhist temples along the long coastline of Quanzhou City, Luo Jia Temple stands uniquely on a floating islet. The name ‘Luo Jia Temple’ is personally inscribed by Zhao Puchu, the president of the Chinese Buddhist Association. Inside the temple complex, one can find the ‘Hall of Heavenly Kings’, ‘Yuantong Bao Dian’, ‘Buddha Recitation Hall’, ‘Scripture Repository’, ‘Bell and Drum Towers’, and ‘Wu Guan Hall’.

The entire temple is majestic, with exquisite carvings, and adorned in gold and splendor. Set against the backdrop of the sea and sky, the temple’s pavilions and towers blend with the misty waves and distant sails, creating a fantastical and breathtaking landscape. Extending eastward to embrace the auspicious pulse of Bao Gai and westward to gather the auspicious energy of Zi Mao, Luo Jia Temple holds a spiritual and elegant presence, a convergence of the best of nature.

It is a place that embodies the essence of ’embracing all rivers with a vast capacity’. In your leisure time, consider visiting Luo Jia Temple for a brief respite from the world’s complexities. The temple is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
