Shuangxi Mingyue is a scenic spot located to the east of Paotai Town, where the Nan and Bei Rivers of Rongjiang converge and flow into the sea. According to the Qing Dynasty text ‘Hanjiang Wenjian Lu’, it is recorded: ‘On the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, when the tide rises, the moon emerges at the tip of Sangpu Shimin, and one can capture the reflection of a double moon at the confluence, which is indeed a wonder.’ The river here is broad, and on moonlit nights, boating through this area offers a captivating night view. Guo Zhiqi also wrote in ‘Liangxi Mingyue’: ‘I often recall the language as smooth as a silk, and add the moon’s sentiment to the river’s emotions.’ During the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty, to defend against Japanese pirates, seven large stones were placed here to block the pirate ships, known as the Seven Star Stones. The opening hours and business status are subject to the actual opening conditions on the day.
