Baima Jian Longchi Scenic Area is located on the north side of Tianping Mountain in Suzhou. It is said to be the place where King Wu of Wu raised horses and King Goujian of Yue slept on sticks and tasted gall during the Spring and Autumn period. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty visited this place when he traveled to the south of the Yangtze River. The scenic area includes historical sites such as the horse drinking pool and the Qianlong imperial stele inscribed with ‘Bright Mirror Ripples Cloud Root’.
For the locals, this is an ideal place for spring outings and leisure. At the foot of the mountain, one can barbecue, row boats, and visit a children’s playground. The mountain is not high, and the trails are shaded by green trees, providing a pleasant environment. The entire circuit is not tiring and is suitable for family outings with people of all ages.

The entrance to the scenic area is on the north end. Upon entering and heading south, one first encounters the Xinyuan Building, which is said to be where Xi Shi recuperated, adjacent to a children’s playground. Further ahead is the place where King Wu raised horses and King Goujian slept on sticks and tasted gall. Following a short walk along the Qianlong Imperial Path, one finds the Xiexin Spring with its clean spring water.

Longchi, also known as Shengtian Reservoir, is located in the southern part of the scenic area. The lake water is clear, and visitors can walk around the lake along the boardwalk or sit by the lake to enjoy tea. Even in summer, this place offers a cool sensation. Visitors can also pay for a bamboo raft ride to appreciate the beautiful scenery. As for the peach blossom jellyfish in Longchi, they are generally invisible to tourists, and even during the best viewing time when peach blossoms are in full bloom in spring, the probability of seeing jellyfish is only slightly higher.

For those who wish to climb the mountain, they can continue from Longchi. It is recommended to bring your own cooking utensils and food for the barbecue at the foot of the mountain, as one can traverse from Bai Ma Jian Longchi Scenic Area to Lingyan Mountain. Hikers often encounter fully equipped hiking teams on the mountain. Hiking requires some outdoor experience, and safety should always be a priority!
