The Datang Lixiang Cultural Tourism Area is located on Yuanba Avenue, Genzi Town, Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province. Covering an area of 3 square kilometers, it is continuous among the ancient litchi groups. It is rich in human resources, has magnificent natural landscapes, and unique industries. It is one of the main components of a national agricultural tourism demonstration site, a national AAA-level tourist attraction, and an important agricultural cultural heritage in China (Lingnan litchi planting demonstration in Guangdong).


It is one of the first batch of high-quality rural tourism routes in Guangdong and one of the 100 red tourist attractions in China. Here there is the Gongyuan where litchis were presented to Yang Guifei of the Tang Dynasty during the Sui and Tang Dynasties. There is the Hongli Pavilion of the ‘Chinese Red’ litchi tree. There is a national litchi expo museum and germplasm resource nursery. There are sweet litchi villages with Lingnan features.


It is the birthplace of world litchi culture and a litchi industry cluster. It receives more than 2 million Chinese and foreign tourists annually. The Datang Lixiang Cultural Tourism Area has nine sections including the Yiji Hongchen Square, China Litchi Expo Museum, National Litchi Planting Resource Nursery, Chuxin Square, Baili Garden, Gongyuan – Ancient Litchi Museum, Hongli Scenic Spot – Hongli Pavilion, Shuimo Qiaotou – Internet-famous Qiaotou Village, and the essence section of Genzi Greenway.


Its central scenic spots, the millennium-old Gongyuan and Hongli Pavilion, have always been well-known tourist attractions and attract a large number of tourists every year. Hongli Pavilion is one of the attractions of Maoming City’s ‘One-day Rural Tour’ and one of the ‘Top Ten Tourist Scenic Areas’, and is recommended by the provincial tourism bureau as one of the ‘red tourist attractions’ routes.


Gongyuan is even known as the ‘living litchi museum’ and is a scenic spot to experience litchi culture. Opening hours: Open all year round from 10:00 to 18:00.
