The Liu’ao Peninsula is located in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province. It gets its name because of the town of Liu’ao on the peninsula. The island is 1 to 5 kilometers wide, about 14 kilometers long, and has an area of about 30 square kilometers. It was originally an offshore isolated island and has become a land-connected island due to the accumulation of silt. It is composed of Yanshanian granite and basalt.
