Shen Menghai’s Former Residence is located at No. 15 Longyou Road, Xiacheng District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. It was the place where the contemporary Chinese calligrapher Shen Menghai lived in his later years and was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province in 2009.
The residence is a two-story brick and wood structure villa-style building, covering an area of 870 square meters with a total construction area of 601 square meters. In November 2004, the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province invested more than 7 million yuan for its renovation, which includes an exhibition hall displaying pictures and deeds of Shen Menghai’s life.
The plaque with the words ‘Shen Menghai’s Former Residence’ in the courtyard was written by the famous calligrapher and seal carver Qian Juntao. It is open to the public all year round from 09:00 to 16:30.
