‘A Symphony of Lights’ is a local laser light and music show. It is jointly presented by skyscrapers and landmark buildings on both sides of Victoria Harbour. It is one of the world’s largest light and music extravaganzas. At 8 pm every night, people can see the urban buildings on both sides of Victoria Harbour transformed into a stage of intertwined sound and light amid neon lights and music, showcasing the brilliant night of the local city.
The colorful lights emitted by each building illuminate the sky above Victoria Harbour. Complemented by music and narration, it is dreamy, gorgeous and impactful. The sound and light show starts on time at 8 pm every night and lasts for about 13 minutes. During these 13 minutes, the performance can be watched for free on both sides of Victoria Harbour. The best viewing locations are the Tsim Sha Tsui seaside from the Avenue of Stars to outside the Cultural Centre, the promenade at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai, or the sightseeing ferry on Victoria Harbour. At the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront garden and the promenade at Golden Bauhinia Square, people can listen to the live broadcasts of music and narration of ‘A Symphony of Lights’. English narration is played on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Mandarin narration is played on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Cantonese is played on Sundays. The usual daily performances usually have five sections. People can watch the gradual change effect of colorful lights on the exterior walls of buildings, lasers and searchlights dancing in the night, and kaleidoscope-like rotating light patterns, which are colorful. If you choose the ‘A Symphony of Lights’ Victoria Harbour tour and be on a sightseeing cruise ship, you can enjoy the night view on both sides of Victoria Harbour and also appreciate a sound and light show on the water, killing two birds with one stone. People stand on the seaside side of Tsim Sha Tsui to watch the performance. Looking out, landmark buildings on Hong Kong Island such as the Bank of China Tower, HSBC, and the International Finance Centre are all in full view. With these buildings as the background, the performance will be even more spectacular. The waterfront observation deck next to the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower and Star Ferry Pier on this coastline is the best place to watch the performance. If there are special festival days, people can also see fireworks set off on the rooftops of buildings and on the sea. Since the end of 2007, ‘A Symphony of Lights’ has been expanded into a large-scale New Year’s countdown event every year. First, the regular light show is held. Before the new year arrives, there will also be a fireworks show. The fireworks set off, accompanied by swaying and shining laser searchlights. At zero o’clock to welcome the new year, seven-color fireworks are ejected, which is very beautiful and shocking. The opening hours are from 20:00 to 20:10 all year round. When the Hong Kong Observatory issues Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above or Red Rainstorm Warning Signal/Black Rainstorm Warning Signal at or after 3 pm on the day of the performance, the performance that night will be suspended. If the warning signal is removed before 8 pm on the same day, the performance that evening will also be suspended. If the performance needs to be suspended due to an emergency, no further notice will be given. The A Symphony of Lights Show in Hong Kong is a must-see attraction with a large number of visitors.
