The Qingdao International Beer Festival, established in 1991, commences on the second weekend of August each year and lasts for 16 days. Jointly hosted by relevant national departments and the Qingdao Municipal People’s Government, the festival integrates tourism, culture, sports, and economic trade into a grand celebration.
Held in August during Qingdao’s prime tourist season, the festival has become a significant event that showcases the city’s personality and charm through the medium of beer, highlighting both the Qingdao Brewery Company and the city itself. The 28th Qingdao International Beer Festival took place from July 20 to August 26, 2018, at the Golden Beach Beer City in the Qingdao West Coast New Area. This edition featured a ‘SCO Theme,’ introducing a series of brand beers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries. On July 12, 2019, the 29th Qingdao International Beer Festival’s Jimo Ancient City venue was inaugurated with the opening of the first barrel of beer.
