Yueshan Village is located 57 kilometers southeast of Qingyuan County. The village is named for its crescent-shaped mountain backdrop and the meandering stream in front that resembles a silver hook, with the village nestled between them like a full moon embraced by mountains and water.

Yueshan Village is surrounded by lush green mountains and meandering rivers. Along the approximately one-kilometer stretch of the Juxi River, there are ten ancient covered bridges, each spaced only twenty to thirty meters apart, earning the village the reputation of ‘ten bridges in two miles,’ including the Wenbao protection unit, Longqiao.

Yueshan Village boasts the ‘Juxi Eight Scenic Spots,’ along with unique attractions such as the Ice Mortar Wonder, Wu Wenjian Temple, the King of Cedar Trees, and the Mandarin Duck Well. The Ice Mortar Wonder: In the valley area adjacent to Yueshan Village, in Houkeng Village, there are many peculiarly shaped stone holes resembling mortars used for pounding rice, characterized by ‘small mouths, large bellies, and flat bottoms.’ Some are as large and shaped like bathtubs, where villagers enjoy bathing, colloquially known as ‘natural bathtubs.’ In 2005, these were confirmed by Professor Han Tonglin, an authority on ice mortars from the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, as being relics of the Quaternary glacial period, scientifically known as ‘ice mortars.’

The village is open all year round, with full-day access.
