Nanxi River Shiwei Rock – Narcissus Cave

Beneath Shiwei Rock lies a deep pool. By boat, one can enter and cross a small wooden bridge, then ascend about twenty steps via a ladder to discover a natural stone cave known as Narcissus Cave. The cave is approximately 10 meters deep, about 6 meters wide, and reaches up to 8 meters in height, accommodating more than 30 people. Inside the cave, there is a stone mortar, above which spring water drips from the cliffs, perfectly falling into the mortar. Drinking from the spring is a refreshing and particularly sweet experience. Narcissus Cave is named in honor of the Narcissus Maiden. According to legend, she was a young girl who often provided medicine and treated the sick for the poor, earning her deep affection from the local people. After her death, the villagers named the cave ‘Narcissus Cave’ in her memory. From the entrance of Narcissus Cave, one can gaze upon a panorama of peculiar peaks and unique rocks, all vying for attention. Among them, two distinct stone peaks stand out, called ‘Qilin Sending Offspring’, which are upright and elegant, exquisite and translucent, making them quite a spectacle. Opening hours are from 8:00 to 18:00.
