The Liu Xiu Long scenic area is located in Wuyi County, Jinhua region in central Zhejiang. It is a 5-kilometer-long Danxia wonderland. There are beautiful stones standing on both sides and strange peaks rising abruptly. It has the reputation of ‘Shili Gallery’. At the entrance of Liu Xiu Long, there are two strange rocks standing on the left and right. The left peak is like an elephant drooping its trunk, and the right peak is like a whale lying down. Going up the mountain from the entrance and passing through a secluded bamboo forest, one arrives at Huaixiu Ping. This is a circular rock mound suddenly protruding in the valley. There are stone benches on the flat ground for people to rest. The best place to enjoy the scenery in the scenic area should be the stone cave on the upper part of the Jinjiaoyi cliff – the sky corridor. Standing on the sky corridor and looking down at the earth, one can have a panoramic view of landscapes such as Qifeng, Monk Rock, Imperial Cap Peak, and Dahongyan. On the top of Liu Xiu Long, there is a strange cave named Shuangyan Cave. There are caves within caves, and all caves are connected. Four groups of strange stones stand in sequence one after another, resembling opening the door to welcome guests. In front of the cave are two strange peaks called Hehuaxin and Tonggu Rock. At the gorge entrance, there is an ancient archway. Downstairs, there are Husband and Wife Rock and Water Curtain Cave. Liu Xiu Long was originally named Lou Xiao Nong. According to legend, Liu Xiu, Emperor Guangwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty, once took refuge here, so it is called Liu Xiu Long. The village at the entrance of the ridge is called Liu Xiu Village. There are many strange stones, dangerous caves and legendary stories related to Liu Xiu in the area. The Liu Xiu Cave is located on the cliff behind Liu Xiu Village. The cave has two layers, each with an area of more than 20 square meters. The upper cave is very cool, and there is a spring in the lower cave. Opening hours: Off-season, Monday to Sunday, all day, 08:00 – 17:30. Peak season, Monday to Sunday, all day, 07:30 – 18:30.
