Located north of Zhangtang Stream, Shuilian Cave is a remarkable attraction in Wuyi Mountains. A small waterfall, known as the Little Shuilian Cave, cascades down from the top of Xiabin Rock. Ascending the steps leads one to the Shuilian Cave itself. The cave is nestled within the overhanging cliffs, hidden within the convergent rock waist, with its entrance slanting open and the cave roof providing a cool shade. Two streams of water plummet from the overhanging rock top, over a hundred meters high, resembling two dragons spraying dragon saliva, sprinkling the mountainside. To reach Shuilian Cave, one can enter Huiyuan Pit from Furong Rock at Guilin Road in the north of the mountain, or turn right up the sloping ridge beside the ticket booth. Alternatively, one can ascend the mountain from Dahongpao. Shuilian Cave is one of the largest caves in Wuyi Mountains, with both height and width exceeding a hundred meters. The water curtain of Shuilian Cave can be as wide as four meters at its broadest. The cave is always in front of the door, with two clear springs flowing all year round, cascading down from the rock top over a hundred meters high, resembling two hanging bead curtains. Inside Shuilian Cave, it is spacious and bright, capable of accommodating hundreds of people. The cliff walls are adorned with numerous cliff inscriptions, with the words ‘Living Source’ being particularly notable. To the right of the cave entrance path is the verdant and deep Yulong Pool.
