Zhe Mountain Scenic Area is located to the north of the central landmark Jiu Zi Square in Wuhu City, separated by Anhui Normal University. The main part of the scenic area is Zhe Mountain Park, with scattered attractions such as Guangji Temple and Lu He Village Tea Art Museum at the foot of the mountain. Within Zhe Mountain Park, there is the smaller Zhe Mountain to the north and the larger Zhe Mountain to the south.

It is said that Gan Jiang once forged swords nearby, turning the mountains red, hence the name ‘Zhe Mountain’. Both mountains are not tall, with excellent greenery, and many locals come here for morning exercises. The park also features an amusement park and a zoo, making it a paradise for children. Zhe Mountain Park has several entrances including the East Gate, West Gate, South Gate, and Cuiming Garden Gate.

On the top of the smaller Zhe Mountain is the Wuhu TV Tower; on the larger Zhe Mountain, there is the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and the一览ting, an ancient pavilion dating back to the Ming Dynasty’s Jiajing period. Standing on the mountaintop and looking westward, one can see the Yangtze River. If you enjoy visiting museums, the Huizhou Merchants Museum is located to the north of the East Gate of Zhe Mountain Park, featuring a collection primarily of ‘Huizhou San Diao’ (stone carving, brick carving, and wood carving), as well as ancient calligraphy and paintings.

The museum also has settings such as water outlets, ancestral halls, pawnshops, silk stores, traditional Chinese medicine shops, and Huaxi Lou. To the south of Zhe Mountain Park is the Lu He Village Tea Art Museum, which also focuses on Huizhou San Diao and offers tea tasting. Adjacent to the Lu He Village Tea Art Museum, Guangji Temple, built against the larger Zhe Mountain, is an ancient temple with a long history.

The temple enshrines the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, hence Zhe Mountain is also known as ‘Little Jiuhua’. Particularly striking in the temple is the Zhe Tower (Guangji Temple Tower) in the backyard of the Jiuhua Palace, a five-story tower built in the second year of the Northern Song Dynasty’s Zhiping era (1065 AD). In addition, the scenic area also includes attractions such as Cuiming Garden, Rose Garden, and Rhododendron Garden.

The West Gate of Zhe Mountain Park connects to the Phoenix Food Street, making it very convenient to enjoy delicious food after visiting the scenic area. The park is open all year round from 04:30 to 22:00.
