Located on the West Shengli Road in the urban area, adjacent to the Datong Academy, stands the Gu Yue Bookstore. The owner, Xu Shulan, a retired military official, purchased an area of 1.6 mu in the ancient Yuzhou examination hall during the 28th year of the Guangxu era (1902), spending 32,960 taels of silver to construct the Gu Yue Bookstore. It houses over 70,000 volumes of books and officially opened to readers in the 30th year of the Guangxu era (1904). The bookstore is open daily from January 1st to December 31st, operating hours are from 08:00 to 18:00.
