The term ‘Nong’, a dialect word, refers to alleys or narrow passageways. Originally, it denoted the small lanes within palaces. Duopo Nong is a relatively narrow alley located in the historical hometown of the Sage of Calligraphy. It is said that Wang Xizhi, to avoid the persistent requests of an elderly woman to inscribe her fan, hid here, lending the alley its name. The area is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
