Wudong Bridge, also known as the New Bridge, is located in Xinqiao Tou Village, Dayang Street, Linhai City, situated between Xinqiao Tou Village and the villages of Caojia and Shanxia. The bridge was initially constructed between 1450 and 1456 during the Ming Dynasty’s Jingtai era, funded by a wandering monk. It was destroyed by a great flood in the 49th year of the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong era (1784), and was subsequently rebuilt the following year, led by locals Zhang Weixin and Zhang Zhengli, and was completed in the 54th year of Qianlong’s reign (1789). It was also renovated in the fourth year of the Tongzhi era (1865). On February 18, 2001, the Linhai Municipal People’s Government declared it a ‘Linhai Cultural Relic Protection Unit’. It is open all year round, with 24-hour access, although specific operational status is subject to daily opening conditions.
