Designed by the prestigious architect Cheng Taining, a recipient of the Liang Sicheng Architecture Prize, a master of Chinese architecture, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the museum’s exterior resembles a dynamic, massive stone, while the interior spaces flow and intersect like the Longyu Dongtian caves. The museum consists of five floors above ground and one floor underground.

The first floor serves as a public lobby, where citizens can read, rest, and participate in various activities. The second floor features an open temporary exhibition hall that will host periodic exhibitions and educational events. On the third floor, you will find the National Treasure Hall, which houses the museum’s prized possession—a bronze pan-dragon plate from the late Shang Dynasty, unearthed in 1984 at Wenqiao Wanwei Tong Village, and a more specialized temporary exhibition hall.

The fourth floor is home to the History Hall, a lecture hall, and an outdoor viewing platform. The History Hall showcases the ‘Taiping Chronicles—Wenling Historical and Cultural Exhibition’. The outdoor viewing platform is uniquely designed with a large opening facing north, allowing visitors to appreciate the beautiful scenery along the Shuangqiao River, reflecting the distinctive stone culture of Wenling with a strong visual impact and sense of the times.

The fifth floor is a comprehensive functional area and office space. The ground floor retains ample public activity space, allowing one to pass through from the southern square to the northern Shuangqiao River bank, and then walk along the water-friendly plank road to look back at the building, whose reflections are mottled, dynamic, and pure. The museum is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 16:30; closed all day on Mondays.
