Lv Zu Hall is located on the south side of Binri Building in Penglai Pavilion Scenic Area, facing north to south layout, composed of a double gate, the main hall, and the east and west wings, all of which are temple-style architecture. It was initiated by the prefect Jia Hu and the commander Wang Zhengqi in the third year of the Guangxu period (1877). The main hall is a three-bay hard mountain structure, connected to the north wall of Binri Building, measuring 9.04 meters in length and 8.05 meters in depth. Inside the hall, there is an elevated shrine, in which the seated statue of Lu Yan (Lv Dongbin) is worshipped, with the medicine boy and the willow spirit standing on the left and right respectively. The ‘Shou’ character stele of Lu Yan is located at the west end of the front porch of the main hall, facing east. The ‘Shou’ character is written in cursive script, with a strong and vigorous stroke, and it is signed at the bottom of the stele as ‘Inscribed in the middle of winter of the Jia Shen year of Guangxu, copied by Zheng Xihong in Lu Zu Pavilion at Penglai Danxia, Zhi Zhai’. The ‘Shou’ character on the ‘Shou’ character stele of Chunyang Hall in Yan Shui Pavilion, Jiujiang, Jiangxi, is identical to this one, which should be the basis for the copier. There are also four seal script characters ‘Nine Transformations and Elixir’ on the Jiujiang stele, implying that the cursive ‘Shou’ character is composed of the four characters ‘Nine Transformations and Elixir’. To the east of Lv Zu Hall, there are stone inscriptions of Huang Kezuan’s poem ‘Night Banquet at Penglai Pavilion Watching the Troops’ and Yao Yanhuai’s ‘Sea and Sky in One Color’ stele, among other cultural relics. The hall is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:30.
