Junzi Rock is located at the top of Yundang Mountain in Mingong Township. Here, there are two rocks, one high and one low, towering into the clouds. Beside them is an open mountain flat. Lin Shi, a Confucian scholar in the Song Dynasty, once built a hut here to live in seclusion and gather disciples to give lectures. Many rural children followed him. Later generations named the huge rock Junzi Rock because they admired his noble aspiration and integrity. Lin Shi, courtesy name Jiefu, is from Shatangdi, Xinceng. He delved deeply into various classics. He had no intention of seeking official positions all his life. He cultivated the land to support his mother. Once, he was famous in the capital for his profound understanding of the classics and exemplary conduct. He lived to be ninety-six years old.
