Jiulongyan is located in the central-southern part of Xiqiao Mountain and can represent the beauty of Xiqiao Mountain’s natural landscapes. Ascending along the Jiulongyan footpath, ancient vines and trees can be seen everywhere on both sides, with strange shapes and postures that attract attention. The main scenic spots in the area include Zigu Well, Jiulongyan, Zhan Zi’s Lecture Rock, and Zhuhu Terrace. Jiulongyan is in the canyon next to Longzhao Peak. The stone walls on both sides are curved and coiled. On the east wall, there is a huge rock with nine holes formed naturally, which are connected gracefully. It is bright outside and dark inside, with different heights and postures. People drill in from the outer hole and it is like wriggling in a snail shell, turning left and right. It is extremely mysterious and exciting. Later, one can drill out from the Tongtian Cliff on the top of the cliff. There is a local saying that ‘if one can drill through the holes of Jiulongyan, good luck will last until ninety-nine’. In the valley, wildflowers are reflected, miscellaneous trees cast shade, and the flowing spring is trickling. The scenery is especially fresh and charming. Zhan Zi Cave is under Jiulongyan. The two cliffs meet and stand steeply like a door. Below there is a flowing cup pool. The clear spring flows slowly, the cool breeze is blowing gently, and wildflowers are fluttering. Further down is Qixingyan, which can reach the Xikeng at the western foot of Zhizhu Peak. Zhan Zi’s Lecture Rock is on the side of Jiulongyan. The rock is not very deep and can accommodate a dozen people. It was the place where Zhan Ganquan gave lectures back then. Open all year round and open all day.
