The Northern Expedition Monument is built in Jishen Park. It was completed in 1992 under the auspices of He Sui, the acting dean of teaching affairs of the military academy, to commemorate the achievements of the martyrs who died in the Northern Expedition. Due to the large-scale destruction of Jishen Park and the subsequent development plan of Changzhou Island, some of the original buildings in the park have been destroyed, leaving only the Northern Expedition Monument and Jiaosi Pavilion. The characters on the Northern Expedition Monument were all filled with cement and restored in 1984. In November 1988, steps were added for tourists to visit. In Pinggang, Changzhou Town, under the cover of green pines and cypresses, stands a granite monument. Engraved on the monument are 22 large characters: ‘Monument to the fallen generals and officers who were students of the military academy and died in the Northern Expedition’. On the east side of the monument is engraved: ‘Sacrifice for the country’, and on the west side is engraved: ‘Sacrifice one’s life to save the country’. The four sides of the monument base are engraved with the names of more than 350 students of the Whampoa Military Academy who sacrificed in the Northern Expedition. The specific business status of opening hours is subject to the opening situation on that day.
