Hui Fang Garden draws on the traditional layout of Lingnan gardens, adhering to the gardening philosophy of ‘unity of heaven and man’. It skillfully utilizes the terrain to integrate the regional characteristics, architectural features, and cultural landscapes of Chaoshan, Guangdong, and introduces endangered folk crafts into the garden, creating a Lingnan garden with a distinctive ‘Chaoshan flavor’. Covering an area of approximately 10,000 square meters, the garden faces east and is surrounded by mountains on three sides.
The main building employs the famous traditional Chaoshan residential architecture ‘Sìdiǎn Jīn’ (originating from the Qing Dynasty, with remnants of Song and Ming dynasties, often the homes of literati and wealthy merchants). Known for its orderly layout, exquisite craftsmanship, and solid structure, it has earned the saying ‘Chaoshan houses, built like imperial palaces’. With the residential buildings as the central element of the garden’s scenery, it features a variety of garden ornaments such as Ruyi Lake, winding corridors, pavilions, painted boats, landscape stones, and screens. The main architectural expressions are decorated in the Chao style, complemented by traditional Chaoshan folk crafts such as inlaid porcelain, clay sculptures, paintings, gold lacquer, wood carvings, stone carvings, and furniture. The garden is open all year round from 8:00 to 22:30.Hui Fang Garden: A Showcase of Lingnan and Chaoshan Culture
