The Lushunkou Scenic Area is located in Lushunkou District, Dalian City, at the southern foot of Baiyu Mountain, on the north bank of the Lushun Military Port. It faces the main channel of the Lushun Port to the south and is connected to the western port of Lushun to the west. Established in 1985, the park covers an area of over 5,000 square meters. After renovation in 2020, the park was themed around military themes, with its overall shape resembling China’s first aircraft carrier, the ‘Liaoning Ship’. Majestic warships, aircraft carrier islands, and carrier-based aircraft models can be seen everywhere, making one feel as if they are on the deck of an aircraft carrier.
The Lushun Port, which has been a military port for over a century and is seen within the scenic area, is one of the top five natural ice-free ports in the world. It was an important base for the Beiyang Navy during the Qing Dynasty. The port is strategically positioned with mountains on both sides, making it naturally fortified, well-hidden, and wind-protected, thus easy to defend and hard to attack, earning the title ‘The First Military Port of the Beiyang’. Standing on the shore and watching the military port, the mountains and seas remain tranquil, and it is hard to imagine the smoke of war that once enveloped this place.
