Beijing Foreign Studies University, renowned as the ‘Cradle of Diplomats of the Republic,’ is a key university under the national “211 Project” and a high-level university with distinctive features under the “985 Project Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines.” Located in Haidian District, Beijing, the university has its eastern and western campuses on both sides of the Third Ring Road.
The university’s history dates back to the Russian Squad of the Third Branch of the Chinese People’s Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, established in Yan’an in 1941. It was officially renamed Beijing Foreign Studies University in 1994. Today, it comprises 13 colleges, including the College of English Studies, the College of Russian Studies, the School of Advanced Translation, the School of International Business, the School of Chinese Language and Literature, and the School of International Relations.
Beijing Foreign Studies University offers courses in 60 foreign languages, such as English, Russian, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Arabic, Italian, Swedish, Portuguese, Khmer, and others. The main teaching and living areas are primarily located in the eastern campus, which includes the university’s main building, stadium, tennis courts, Beijing Japanese Studies Research Center, College of English Studies, library, Arabic Department, and the Run Run Shaw Teaching Building.
The western campus features the Beijing BFSU Hotel, administrative building, School of International Business, German Department, and affiliated primary school, as well as faculty and expert apartments.Dear visitor,
