Qianhai West Street is located on the west side of Qianhai in Xicheng District, Beijing. It starts from the east of Dingfu Street in the north and reaches Di’anmen West Street in the south. The entire shape is like a ‘7’. This place was originally along the west side of Qianhai. After liberation, a part of the southwest of Qianhai was filled and turned into a stadium (now Beijing Shichahai Sports School).
This street is then called Qianhai West Street. There are two very famous places along Qianhai West Street. One is Prince Gong’s Mansion at No. 17, and the other is Guo Moruo’s Former Residence at No. 18. Prince Gong’s Mansion was originally the residence of Heshen. Later, the owner was Yonglin, Prince Qingjun. During the Xianfeng period, it was given to Prince Gong Yixin to live in, and it became Prince Gong’s Mansion. ‘One Prince Gong’s Mansion, half of the history of the Qing Dynasty’ is referring to this place. Guo Moruo’s Former Residence was originally also a part of Prince Gong’s Mansion and was originally the stable of the mansion. After the 1911 Revolution, the descendants of the prince sold this place to Lejia of Tongrentang. In 1963, Guo Moruo moved in from No. 5, Xisidayuan Hutong. He lived here until his death in June 1978. Now the former residence has been opened as the Guo Moruo Memorial Hall. In addition to these two famous scenic spots, the rest of the entire street are shops and restaurants. Generally, old Beijing hutong tours will take this route. The starting point is at the entrance of Guo Moruo’s Former Residence and return to Prince Gong’s Mansion after a circle. Open all year round, open all day.Qianhai West Street
