The Huihang Ancient Road is 15 kilometers in length. It connects Fuling Town in Jixi County, Anhui Province and Maxiao Township in Lin’an City, Zhejiang Province. It was an important transportation route connecting Huizhou and Hangzhou in ancient times. Now it has become a paradise for beginner hikers. The relatively well-preserved section of this ancient road is the Panshan stone step path within Jixi County. It is located at the beginning of the ancient road and is also the essence of the Huihang Ancient Road. The better season for hiking the ancient road is in late March. At this time, rhododendrons are in full bloom all over the mountains and are very beautiful. For recommended play, it is suggested to enter from Jixi County and exit from Lin’an City when hiking the ancient road. Because several better scenic spots along the ancient road are all within Jixi County. Although some hikers can complete the whole journey in one day, they will miss many scenic spots and cannot experience the scenery along the way. A better way is to stay overnight in the middle section of the ancient road. To hike the ancient road, you need to take a bus to Yuchuan Village in Fuling Town, Jixi County (the entrance of the ancient road). Start entering the ancient road here in the morning. This is the Panshan stone step path. The mobile phone signal here is very weak and it is almost in an isolated state. After passing the entrance, you will first pass the Xiaoyaohe Hydropower Station. Climb up along the stone steps all the way. On the left side along the way is a steep stone wall. In spring, water will seep out from the stone wall. On the right side is a cliff. The peaks on the opposite side have unique shapes. You may pay attention to them. They look like human faces. After climbing up the long stone step path, you will come to the closed gate. The closed gate is composed of four rocks. There are several large characters engraved on the lintel. On the east side of the pass, there is an arched stone pavilion built along the mountain. Passers-by can take shelter from the rain and rest here. After passing the closed gate, there is no stone step road, but you still need to continue climbing up. Moreover, the road is relatively narrow. You need to bring your own lunch and eat it on this section of the road because there is no place to eat on this mountain road. After continuing to walk, you can reach Huangmaopei Village around afternoon. It is recommended to rest here for a while. After leaving Huangmaopei Village and continuing to walk forward, after walking through a flat area, there will be two fork roads. Both roads can be taken. The main road is more winding and not so easy to walk. But the small road is more challenging. If you take the small road, walk across a single-plank bridge and continue to climb up. The hillside is relatively steep and there are no steps. After walking for about half an hour, you can reach Xuexiatang. This is also the place to stay overnight. It should be mentioned that tourists who come here for hiking have two choices for accommodation at night. One is to find a farmhouse of local people here. The other is to bring your own tent and camp here or walk for another hour to Lantian’ao to set up camp. Early the next morning, start from here and continue to climb up. This section of the journey is also relatively strenuous. After climbing for about more than an hour, you can reach Lantian’ao. This is also the most beautiful scenic spot in the entire ancient road and the highest point of the Huihang Ancient Road.

Blue Sky Hollow is a place with beautiful natural scenery in the ancient road and also the entrance to the main road of Qingliang Peak. Here is a relatively gentle hillside. Sitting on the hillside, you can have a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.

After Blue Sky Hollow is the downhill road. Walking to Yonglai Village is the end of the ancient road. On weekends, you can take a shuttle bus here to Changhua Bus Station.

For accommodation, you can stay at Xiaoxuetang that night. Here are three farmhouses, namely Xiaoyao Family, Shuiyunjian and Xuetang Courtyard. They are all new houses and relatively clean.

Blue Sky Hollow has wooden rooms built by farmers. You can stay overnight or set up a tent for camping. Tents are available for rent from the store.
