Yan Ziling Fishing Platform is located 15 kilometers southwest of Tonglu County on the banks of the Fuchun River, said to be the place where Yan Ziling, a hermit from the Eastern Han Dynasty, fished in seclusion. The main attraction of the scenic area is the boat tour from Qili Long to Yan Ziling Fishing Platform in Longmen Gorge, as well as visiting the small hill where Yan Ziling Fishing Platform is located to see the historical sites and ascend to overlook the picturesque scenery of the Fuchun River. After entering the scenic area, tickets are purchased at the visitor center, next to which is the pier for boarding the boat. Individual tourists may have to wait longer for the boat, typically every 40 minutes, unless they happen to meet a group and do not wish to wait, they can take a speedboat. The feeling of taking a boat on the river is quite pleasant, somewhat akin to entering the ‘Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains’ painting. After the first leg of the boat journey to Yan Ziling Fishing Platform, tourists disembark and stay for about 1 hour. At the foot of the hill, there are some historical sites, including an ancient archway inscribed with ‘Yan Ziling Fishing Platform’, which often appears in tourists’ photos. Additionally, there are attractions such as Mr. Yan’s Temple and the Nineteenth Spring in the world to visit. The path up the hill is divided into two, east and west, with the east path featuring a corridor of numerous stone tablets. If one cannot understand, a guide can be hired at the place where the boat disembarks. Following the forest path up the hill, surrounded by dense bamboo forests, the hill is small and can be reached at the top in just 15 minutes. The fishing platform at the top is divided into the East Platform and West Platform. The East Platform is said to be the place where Yan Ziling fished in seclusion, while the West Platform is where Xie Ao cried and offered sacrifices to Wen Tianxiang. Both are excellent viewing platforms, offering a panoramic view of the scenery of Longmen Gorge on the Fuchun River. If one does not wish to climb the hill, sitting in the teahouse by the river at the foot of the hill, sipping tea and enjoying the scenery, is also quite pleasant. Just pay attention to the boat’s return time. On the return trip by boat, the boat will stop at the Diaoyu Island, which is opposite the departure pier. The scenery on the small island is mostly newly man-made, featuring a tall arch bridge and a tower next to it. This tower is a place for burning incense and offering Buddha, where people might offer free red ribbons and then guide you to worship Guanyin, pray, light lamps, etc., and finally mention that one can give donations ‘as they wish’. The next attraction is the Jiangnan Longmen Bay, where one can see attractions such as the Tang Pine Welcoming Guests by taking a boat from the pier. There are also water entertainment and dining options, all of which require additional payment. If not interested, one can also take a boat back from Diaoyu Island pier, without following the main group.
