The museum of Renmin University of China began to be prepared in 2004. Based on the exhibition of cultural relics of northern ethnic groups ‘Northern Spring and Autumn’ and the school history exhibition, it was officially established in 2008. In the spring of 2013, it moved to a new location, which is located in the central teaching area of the campus (the former west building of the library). The museum of Renmin University of China is a comprehensive museum integrating collection, display, research and education, with historical relics, artworks and school history.
The exhibition hall has a building area of more than 5,000 square meters and consists of three parts: school history exhibition, special collection exhibition and temporary exhibition. The existing special collection exhibitions include ‘Northern Spring and Autumn – Exhibition of Northern Cultural Relics’, ‘Beauty of Calligraphy – Exhibition of Traditional Chinese Family Letters’, ‘Distant Memory – Exhibition of Khotan Documents’, ‘Inheriting Family Traditions through Farming and Reading – Exhibition of Huizhou Documents’, ‘Treasures from the Stock Market – Exhibition of Chinese Centennial Stocks’ and Shen Peng’s calligraphy works exhibition. The current temporary exhibition is the exhibition on Wang Xiaobo’s life. The museum of Renmin University of China aims to build a first-class museum in the national university system and a characteristic museum in the national cultural relics and museum system. It is committed to serving teaching and scientific research and discipline construction. It is an important part of the school’s talent training system reform roadmap and also an important part of campus culture construction and foreign exchanges.
