Zhu Tan Mountain is located in the Xiandu Scenic Area. The main attractions include the Fairy Embankment, Huiweng Pavilion, Nine-Dragon Wall, and Chaoran Pavilion.
Fairy Embankment: The entrance to the scenic spot is a long embankment situated between two bridges, known as the Fairy Embankment. Lined with graceful willows, the pebble-paved embankment is both romantic and affectionate, making it a popular choice for local lovers to take wedding photos. Its popularity has grown, attracting thousands of couples from neighboring cities such as Lishui, Jinhua, and Wuyi. The main reason for the Fairy Embankment becoming a backdrop for wedding photography is its location near the Dinghu Peak. With Dinghu Peak and Lianxi River as the backdrop, they jointly bear witness to their love, symbolizing that lovers are like the reflection of Dinghu Peak in the water, intermingling with each other. On the embankment, there is a four-sided pavilion called Wangfeng Pavilion and an adjacent waterside pavilion, which not only embellish the scenery but also serve as excellent photography spots. From here, the Dinghu Peak on the shore stands majestically, while its reflection in the water is graceful and swaying with the waves. As the setting sun’s afterglow casts a golden hue, both the Dinghu Peak on the shore and in the creek become even more enchanting, resembling the celestial palaces. This picturesque scenery is the essence of Xiandu, where famous figures from all over the world have stopped to admire since ancient times. It has also been the filming location for dozens of films and TV series such as ‘Ashima’, ‘Handsome Siblings’, ‘Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils’, and ‘Emperor Wu of Han’. Huiweng Pavilion: It is a semi-open pavilion built artificially inside a cave. The pavilion covers an area of 90 square meters and is approximately 6 meters high, with a wooden structure and two pavilion corners extending outwards from the cave. The cave is named Huiweng Cave, and the mountain behind it is called Huiweng Rock. At the foot of the mountain, Haoxi River is wide and deep, known as Zhutan. It is said that the Song Dynasty Neo-Confucian master Zhu Xi (styled Huiweng) once rested here, and all the scenic spots here are named after Zhu Xi’s surname and courtesy name. Huiweng Rock rises dozens of meters high and extends for hundreds of meters from north to south, with cliffs and clear pools, ancient caves, and secluded charm. The ancient trees form a canopy overhead, making it another excellent place to explore the secluded beauty of Xiandu. Behind Huiweng Rock, the environment is tranquil, with many intertwined trees, making it an ideal place for lovers to pledge their love. Nine-Dragon Wall: There is a peculiar rock wall by the water, known as the Nine-Dragon Wall. This is a strip-like layered structural geological formation. The entire structural belt is about 100 meters long, almost parallel to the surface of Haoxi River, with the lowest point less than 1 meter above the water. The caves within the structural belt vary in height and depth, reaching up to 4 meters in height and 4 meters in depth. Because the structural belt is situated among cliffs and precipices, with distinct layers of tuffaceous rock, undulating and curved, protruding and concave, resembling numerous dragons coiled on the stone, it is called the Nine-Dragon Wall, also known as Dragon Cliff. Chaoran Pavilion: By the creek, there is a four-sided single-eave pavilion with a pointed roof, called Chaoran Pavilion, meaning transcending the mundane and wandering with idle clouds. It is a viewing pavilion for overlooking the sunrise at Ma’anshan. The base of the pavilion is 2 meters in length, and it stands 5 meters high, with a wooden structure, red pillars, and green tiles. To the east, one can overlook the sunrise at Ma’anshan. To the north, one can closely observe Tianshi Cave. To the south, one can see the majestic appearance of Dinghu Peak. To appreciate the charm of Zhutan Mountain, one should sit down and slowly feel and experience its natural tranquility, freshness and simplicity.
