The Carved Building is renowned for its exquisite carvings and unique structure. Due to its beautiful carvings and the magnificent layout of the ancient mansion’s halls and pavilions, nearly a hundred TV dramas have been filmed at the Carved Building. The surrounding environment of the front courtyard of the carved building is very beautiful, with lush trees, green grass, lakes, rocks, pavilions and small bridges. The building is surrounded by high and steep walls painted with black asphalt. From a distance, it is jet-black and shiny, just like a black castle. The building was once the private residence of a wealthy businessman in Dongshan. It was built in 1922 and took three years to complete. Among them, ‘Chun Zai Lou’ is a polygonal courtyard structure building. The whole building is mainly decorated with gold, stone, brick, wood and carvings. The carvings are delicate and extremely beautiful, and there is ‘carving everywhere and engraving everywhere’. It is one of the buildings in the entire house that is very worth seeing.
