Bailong Temple is located in Hengshanqiao Town, Wujin District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It is south of the Yangtze River and north of Taihu Lake. Get off at the Hengshanqiao crossing of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway. The temple faces south and is built against the mountain. Surrounded by mountains and waters, with pavilions and towers, it has extraordinary momentum. There are birds singing and flowers blooming in all seasons.
There are many natural landscapes here. Before the Han Dynasty, there were traces of yellow cats spitting gold during the day and silver at night on Huangmao Ridge. In the Wei and Jin Dynasties, there was the Ascending Immortal Terrace. In the Jin Dynasty, Cao Heng formed the inner and outer Longtan due to fighting snakes. In the Song Dynasty, there were holy relics of the White Dragon Lady such as Longjing. The temple is rich in plants. Various ancient trees such as ancient boxwoods, ancient nandinas, and ancient osmanthus trees are lush and green. In front of the hall, there are two thousand-year-old ancient ginkgo trees (also known as love and harmony trees). The tree trunks are towering straight into the sky and the tree girths are thick. Five big cherry trees are full of fruits every autumn, and the fruit fragrance is wafting. An ancient magnolia tree over three hundred years old has a straight trunk. Every early spring, silver flowers are in full bloom and the fragrance spreads for several miles. Unfortunately, due to its long history and having experienced all its glories, it finally ended perfectly this year. The sculpture of the White Dragon Lady in the inner Longtan is vivid. The Taiji yin-yang ball rotates magically. The water in the pool is clear to the bottom, and fish and shrimps are playing. Looking at the mountains from afar, there are colors. Listening to the water up close, there is no sound. People stroll inside the temple and a feeling of returning to nature arises spontaneously. From the first to the third day of August every year, it is said that the dragon son will definitely return to Bailong Temple in Hengshan to visit his mother. Therefore, within a radius of dozens of miles, it is extremely lively. There are three days of opera performances in the temple to celebrate, which is now the temple fair of Hengshanqiao.
