Tiefo Temple, located in Dongguang County, Cangzhou City, is a well-known temple in Cangzhou with a history of a thousand years. There is an old saying in Cangzhou, ‘Cangzhou lions, Jingzhou towers, and Dongguang County’s Iron Buddha.’ Many locals choose to worship and pray here for blessings. The temple was first built during the Song Dynasty and was destroyed later. The ancient relics and the ancient Iron Buddha no longer exist. The current Tiefo Temple was rebuilt in the 1990s. However, the rebuilt temple is solemn and majestic, and many myths and legends emerged during the construction, making the temple still popular with worshippers. When visiting Tiefo Temple, one can focus on the huge Iron Buddha inside the temple, which is about 8 meters tall and very spectacular. There are also several Buddhist halls within the temple that can be visited one by one. Additionally, there is a memorial hall for the famous Peking Opera performer, Xun Huisheng, which can be entered to learn more. When offering incense and kowtowing inside the temple, it is generally expected to give a small donation, about 10-20 yuan per person. The temple is open all year round from 8:00 to 17:30.
