The Berlin Zen Temple is a famous Buddhist temple in China. It is an important place of northern Buddhism and the location of the ancestral court of Zhaozhou. The current abbot is Zen Master Minghai. There are more than 160 resident monks. It is located in the southeast corner of Zhaoxian County (formerly known as Zhaozhou) in Hebei Province, facing the world’s first bridge – Zhaozhou Bridge from a distance. The main hall of the whole temple, Puguangming Hall, covers an area of 435 square meters. It is a single-eaved palace-style wooden structure building covered with yellow glazed tiles and has a majestic momentum. Inside the hall, there is a seated statue of Sakyamuni carved from marble, which is 3 meters high and weighs 10 tons, and other statues of gods and Buddhas. Puguangming Hall is connected to the mountain gate through a slate road about 7 meters wide and 100 meters long. There are six pairs of Tang-style stone lantern pillars on both sides of the road. There is a nearly 10,000-square-meter lawn. More than 300 newly planted cypress trees and a dozen thousand-year-old cypress trees that have gone through vicissitudes of life complement each other. Once entering the mountain gate, one steps into the pure Buddhist land, forming a sharp contrast with the worldly world outside the mountain gate. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 16:00.
