Zhanlu Terrace

The Zhanlu Terrace is located on the south side of Riguan Peak. The stone beam protrudes abruptly and is flat and expansive like a platform. There is a huge rock on the platform with three large characters ‘Zhanlu Terrace’ engraved on it, implying that one can look far into Qufu, the ancient state of Lu from here. The three sides of the stone platform are as steep as if cut with a knife, with a sheer drop of a thousand feet. Looking down from here is dazzling. This place is also called ‘She Shen Cliff’. In the old days, people often threw themselves off the cliff and sacrificed themselves here to pray for blessings for their parents. In the early years of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, He Qiming, the governor of Shandong Province, built a stone railing in front of the cliff to block it, and then renamed it ‘Ai Shen Cliff’. Open all year round and open all day.
