Xuzhou Han Terracotta Warriors Museum

The Xuzhou Han Terracotta Warriors Museum is a site-specific museum in China. The museum’s expansion and renovation project began in October 2004, increasing the museum’s area by over 5,000 square meters. The expanded museum not only features an architectural style rich in historical and cultural atmosphere but also includes an additional military exhibition hall and a temporary exhibition hall.

The military exhibition hall, covering an area of more than 500 square meters, primarily displays Han Dynasty weapons, terracotta warriors’ military formations, and their evolution. The temporary exhibition hall is mainly used for temporary exhibitions of ancient artifacts introduced from other institutions.

The Lishan Terracotta Warriors are not only numerous but also diverse, showcasing a wealth of content: including officials in wide sleeves and long robes, guards holding weapons with headbands, warriors with braids holding long weapons, and soldiers in boots holding crossbows and carrying bows, among more than ten types.

The Lishan Terracotta Warriors are both artistic treasures of the Han Dynasty and historical witnesses of Xuzhou’s status as a military stronghold. They hold immense value for the study of Han Dynasty sculpture art, as well as for the study of social life, funeral systems, and military organization and formations during the Han Dynasty. The museum is open all year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
