Wanzhu Garden, also known as Zhangjia Garden, was once the private garden of Zhang Huaizhi, the military governor of Shandong Province. It is located to the west of Baotu Spring Park. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty and is named after the many bamboos in the garden. Now it is a garden within Baotu Spring Park. Wanzhu Garden has three sets of courtyards, thirteen courtyards, 186 houses, as well as five bridges, four pavilions, one garden and famous springs such as Wangshui Spring, Donggao Spring and Baiyun Spring.
The garden is planted with various flowers and trees such as papaya, pomegranate, magnolia, bamboo, cypress and plantain. The front, east and west courtyards are arranged in the shape of Chinese character ‘pin’. It is an ancient architectural complex formed by combining the architectural characteristics of Beijing’s royal mansions, southern courtyards and Jinan’s quadrangles.
