The Shanxian-Gansu Guild Hall was jointly funded and constructed by merchants from Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces who resided in Kaifeng during the Qing Dynasty. It was first established during the reign of Emperor Qianlong, over 200 years ago. The site was originally the residence of Xu Da, the ‘First Founding Hero’ of the Ming Dynasty, and served as a gathering place for fellow townsmen from Bianjing.

The guild hall consists of a screen wall, a theater building, bell and drum towers, a memorial archway, a main hall, and eastern and western side halls. The layout is rigorous, the construction is meticulous, and the decorations are magnificent. Notable are the carvings and paintings within the hall, which are遍布 with various wood, stone, and brick carvings depicting Buddhist stories and legendary figures with lifelike detail. These are considered treasures in the art of Chinese carving. The diverse and colorful paintings and murals are of great national characteristics and artistic value.

The hall is open all year round from 09:00 to 16:00. In the summer, it is open every day from 08:00 to 18:00, with entry closing at 18:00. In the winter, it is open every day from 08:00 to 17:30, with entry closing at 17:30.
