Mashan, located within the Changqing District of Jinan, is named for its resemblance to a reclining horse. The mountain features steep terrain, exuding a sense of grandeur and elegance. The steps leading up the mountain are quite steep, lacking in gradual inclines. Along the way, one can find thick cypress trees and red soil, with the stone quality being relatively loose.
There is an ancient saying, ‘A thousand miles of Taishan, a hundred miles of Mashan,’ reflecting the significance of this scenic spot. Locals from the surrounding areas have a tradition of visiting Mashan for a grand gathering and offering incense for blessings on the third day of the third lunar month, a practice that has lasted for nearly a thousand years.
The scenic spot is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
