Mingyue Mountain is located in Wengtang Town, Yichun, Jiangxi, known as the hometown of hot springs. Here, you can enjoy various beautiful and fantastic natural landscapes such as steep peaks, cliffs, waterfalls, streams, alpine meadows, and sea of clouds at sunrise. Additionally, you can see many religious buildings and relics of Buddhism and Taoism. Moreover, Mingyue Mountain is situated in the hot spring area, allowing you to relax and enjoy the comfort brought by hot springs after exploring the mountains.
The Mingyue Mountain scenic area is divided into five parts: the Tanxia area at the foot of the mountain and the four peak areas of Taiping Mountain, Tangjia Mountain, Yangshan, and Yujing Mountain at the top. The scenic area has hiking trails, cable cars, and zip lines for visitors to choose according to their preferences. A rough tour of the entire area takes about half a day, while a detailed exploration requires one to two days.
There are two entrances to the scenic area. Generally, tourists will enter from the Mingyue Square on the north side, which leads to the Tanxia area. This area features bamboo forests, pavilions, moon-themed sculptures, and a small wooden house offering catering and shopping. The starting point for the mountain trail and cable car is also here. If you choose to hike, it will take about two to three hours. Climbing requires some physical strength, but the scenery along the way is quite good, with five waterfalls on the mountain road and many strange peaks and rocks. Attractions such as Baoyue Pavilion and Jinyue Pool have been developed, among which the famous Yungu Waterfall has a drop of over a hundred meters and is very spectacular.
The cable car does not go straight to the end but is divided into two sections, with a stop at the place where five waterfalls are concentrated. Visitors can get off here to view several waterfalls before continuing to the top. After reaching the top, you can first visit Tangjia Mountain and Yujing Mountain areas successively, with many attractions such as the valley tunnel Xingyue Cave, the alpine lake Moon Lake, and strange peaks and rocks. Among them, the Qingyun plank road on the cliff of Wuyun Cliff is suspended in the air, with some sections made of glass. Walking on the plank road feels very thrilling as you are above a precipice.
On the west side of Moon Lake, there is a road leading to the Shibabai scenic spot, with a continuous arrangement of more than a dozen peaks. It takes about 7 kilometers to walk, or you can rent a bicycle. The sightseeing train to Shibabai in the scenic area is under construction and will open soon. The Taiping Mountain and Yangshan scenic areas are located on the north side and can be reached on foot at the top, or you can take the alpine zip line directly from Wuyun Cliff for a thrilling experience.
After visiting all the scenic spots, you can directly exit the scenic area from the Yangshan side, or return to the main entrance of the scenic area on the north side. There is a five-star hotel, Mengyue Villa, in the scenic area that can provide accommodation, but the price is very expensive. Generally, tourists will return to Yichun or live in the town. The Tianmu Hot Spring at the foot of the mountain is very famous. After climbing the mountain, enjoying the hot spring is a very wonderful experience.
