Luo Ronghuan’s former residence, also known as Yigongxiang Ancestral Temple, is located in Hengdong, Hunan. It is an important part of the golden tourist route of Mount Hengshan in Nanyue – Mi River – Yandi Mausoleum – Jinggang Mountain. In 1902, the 28th year of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, Marshal Luo Ronghuan was born in the new big house at Qiganwu Chang in Nanwan. At the age of 12, he moved here to live. Luo Ronghuan’s former residence was built in 1914. It faces east, with a brick-wood structure and a single-story building with two entrances and five bays. It has a hard mountain top, small black tiles, upturned ridges and flying eaves, and fire-sealed gables. Behind the main building are miscellaneous houses, including a rice milling room, kitchen, pigsty, and cattle pen. After restoration, Luo Ronghuan’s former residence has completely retained its original appearance. It reproduces the living scenes of Marshal Luo Ronghuan’s family in those years and restores the marshal’s bedroom, study, as well as his grandmother’s bedroom, parents’ bedrooms, living room, gymnasium, and stove room. The items displayed in the marshal’s bedroom, such as cabinets, plank beds, drawers, dressing tables, bookcases, cosmetic boxes, double mirrors, and small bedside square tables, are all original items used by Marshal Luo Ronghuan back then. The fire table, cupboard, and stools displayed in the stove room are also original items. The original items displayed in the former residence also include an ancient Chinese bed, drawer nail, and handloom in the grandmother’s bedroom. The gymnasium is the place where Marshal Luo Ronghuan practiced martial arts. It is furnished with martial arts equipment such as pile boards, stone locks, stone bars, knives, spears, sticks, rakes, swords, and halberds. The auxiliary exhibition room is renovated from four miscellaneous rooms such as the kitchen, pigsty and cattle pen, and pestle and mortar room. Beside Luo Ronghuan’s former residence, there are also scenic spots such as Luo Shuai’s bronze statue square, Luo Shuai’s life achievements exhibition hall, and the restoration exhibition room of Luo Shuai’s office and bedroom.
