Baodugu National Forest Park is located in Shanting District, Zaozhuang City. It is 20 kilometers northeast of Zaozhuang City. The forest coverage rate is 96.8%. It is divided into four scenic areas: Chaoyun Bamboo Forest, Taoyuan Fairyland, Junshan Sea View, and Fengluo Ancient Cliff. It is a rare gathering area of natural hardwood forests and is also rare in China. With an altitude of 584 meters, it blends with Guilong Lake.
The mountains and waters are connected, majestic. The ancient cave fairyland is spectacular and lofty. ‘Junshan Sea View’ is the crown of the eight scenic spots in ancient Yixian County. It is the number one ancient fortress in the world and a national AAAA-level scenic spot. The mountains of Baodugu National Forest Park stretch endlessly and there are many peaks. From west to east, they form a natural barrier. The forest vegetation area is large. The main tree species are precious tree species such as Platycladus orientalis, Robinia pseudoacacia and Catalpa bungei, as well as various hardwood tree species. Among the mountains, there is a peak protruding like a pillar supporting the sky, which is Baodugu. On the southwest slope of the ancient fortress, there is a deep ravine and a large gully. Springs gather here to form waterfalls. On the east side of the deep ravine are Qinghua Temple and Chaoyun Temple. There are dozens of caves on the mountainside, named Taoyuan Cave, Shuilian Cave, etc. The stone walls inside and outside the caves are carved with various Buddha statues. From the foot to the top, it is as steep as a wall. You can only climb up by using both hands and feet. There are dozens of mu of flat fields on the top of the ancient fortress. The stone pool is full of mountains and waters, several feet deep. Standing on the top of the ancient fortress and looking into the sky in the south, the flat fields are like paintings. Looking east at the Yellow Sea, there is a misty haze. Therefore, it is called ‘Junshan Sea View’. There are scenic spots such as Chaoyun Temple, the top of Baodugu, Eighteen Arhat Caves, and Huanglong Cave around. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:30 to 16:00.
