Yangyuan Mountain and the main mountain of Danxia Mountain (Elder Peak) face each other across the river. It is named after the world-famous wonder Yangyuan Stone. The rocks here, regardless of size, all form peculiar landform shapes. The main scenic spots are Yangyuan Stone in the south and Kunyuan Mountain (Jade Maiden Blocking the River) in the north. One yang and one yin correspond to each other from a distance.
From behind Yangyuan Stone, one can climb up to Jiadun Pavilion on the top of Yangyuan Mountain via Yunya plank road. Then, from Ximei Stockade at the west end, one can go down the mountain via the Nine-Nine Ladder and enjoy the Mysterious Platform and Tiangang Bridge. One can also see beautiful landscapes such as Tongtai Bridge, Seal Rock, and Hunyuan Cave. The obvious feature of the entire scenic area is the rich and colorful rock shapes. These strange rocks become wonders, mostly with vivid shapes and spirits. Especially the “Yangyuan Stone”, also known as the “ancestral stone”, is extremely lifelike. Whoever sees it will marvel at the uncanny craftsmanship of nature. In addition, there are two or three dozen scenic spots to be seen in the Red Stone Sculpture Garden.
